Drywall (plasterboard on a metal frame, often called Knauf after the best-known brand) is one of the most useful tools in a renovation. It lets you split a room, build a new bathroom wall, lower a ceiling or straighten crooked walls, without the weight, water and drying time of masonry.
We bring in drywall installers from our network and coordinate them with the electrician and plumber, so cables and pipes go into the frame before the boards are closed.
What we build in drywall
- Partition walls. New rooms, a separate bedroom in an open-plan flat, a walk-in wardrobe, or a wall with a new door opening.
- Suspended ceilings. Lowered ceilings that hide cables and pipes and leave room for built-in lights.
- Wall linings. Boards fixed in front of uneven or damaged walls to get a straight surface, with space for insulation where it makes sense.
- Bathrooms and kitchens. Moisture-resistant boards, boxing in pipes, niches and installation walls for wall-hung toilets.
- Repairs. Fixing cracks, holes and damaged corners in existing drywall, then filling and preparing for painting.

Where drywall makes sense, and where it does not
Drywall is light, fast and clean, which makes it ideal for apartments in Pula/Pola, Rovinj/Rovigno or Poreč/Parenzo where you cannot bring in heavy materials easily. It is also the usual way to turn one large space into several rooms when converting a house into holiday apartments.
In old stone houses, be careful. Covering a damp stone wall with boards can trap moisture behind them. The damp has to be dealt with first, and sometimes a breathable lime plaster is the better choice. Our guide on insulating an old house in Istria explains the options.
How it works if you are abroad
Send us photos, a simple sketch or a plan on WhatsApp, with the rough measurements. We tell you what is possible and give a rough price range. After a site visit you get a written quote with VAT included. During the work you see the frame, the boards and the finished surface in photos.
What affects the price
The price depends on the area, the type of board (standard, moisture-resistant, fire-rated), whether insulation goes inside, the number of corners, openings and built-in lights, and the finish level before painting. A first idea comes from the renovation cost calculator. Drywall is often part of a bigger renovation, together with bathrooms and new floors.
Send us photos or a sketch of what you want to change on WhatsApp. We will reply with what is possible and a rough range.
Frequently asked questions
Is a drywall partition soundproof?
A standard partition reduces sound but does not block it. With insulation inside and double boards it works much better. Tell us how the rooms will be used and we will suggest a build-up.
Can I hang shelves or a TV on drywall?
Yes, with the right fixings, or better, with reinforcement built into the frame at the right height. Plan this before the boards are closed.
Can drywall be used in a bathroom?
Yes, with moisture-resistant boards and a waterproofing layer in the shower area before tiling.
Do I need a permit for a new partition wall?
Non-structural partitions inside a home usually do not, but rules depend on the municipality and the building. In apartment buildings or protected houses, check with a licensed architect first.
